With over 18 years of experience at prestigious big 4 and 5 accountancy firms (17 years at Big 4 and 1 year and big 5, BDO UK), including EY Sri Lanka, EY Qatar, EY Singapore, KPMG UK, and BDO UK, Ruwan has developed a robust expertise in accounting and auditing. With 6.5 years spent in the UK alone (5.5 years at KPMG and 1 year at BDO), our CEO has held pivotal roles as an audit manager and senior manager at KPMG UK and BDO UK.

His extensive experience spans accounting, finance, and internal control systems, with particular expertise in IFRS/UK GAAP, International Auditing Standards (ISA UK), and regulations pertinent to UK businesses.

 

Ruwan has effectively utilized the latest accounting and audit tools throughout his career, delivering high-quality audit and accounting services to a diverse range of clients. These include both listed entities and large conglomerates across various sectors, such as manufacturing, professional services, leisure and hospitality, construction and real estate, transportation and logistics, technology, and not-for-profit organizations.

At KPMG UK and BDO UK, Ruwan collaborated closely with the firms’ offshoring teams in India, South Africa, and Mauritius, giving him a profound understanding of the accounting and audit outsourcing process and its inherent challenges. He was also involved in KPMG's Manager Pillar, overseeing the audit offshoring functions. One of the key challenges he identified in the process was that the quality of work often fell short of expectations.

In late 2024, Ruwan founded Advayd to address the shortcomings he observed in offshoring accounting and audit work, particularly concerning quality. Advayd aims to significantly enhance the outsourcing experience for accounting firms and businesses. Ruwan is passionate about delivering value and believes that tailored, regular training for colleagues is essential in achieving this goal.​
